Cranksgiving is a food drive on two wheels. Part bike ride, part food drive, and part scavenger hunt.
2016 was our first year holding this event in San Jose – you may have seen the great coverage in NBC Bay Area Proud. We managed to get 65 riders together and collect 1,300 pounds of food to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank. This year we want it even bigger and need your help!
All you need is a bike, a bag, a lock and about $20 to purchase groceries. Our goal is to provide hundreds of needy Bay Area families with relief during Thanksgiving.
Second Harvest Food Bank currently provides food to more than one quarter of a million people every month in the South Bay, but they need all of our help.

SPEED – Riders will race through the city to carefully selected checkpoints where they will purchase food to be donated. Mileage will depend on how well they plan their route. Each rider in the speed category starts with an equal number of points that will be deducted as the clock runs.
CARGO – Hit the core checkpoints and buy specified items on the shopping list. Buy extra approved items to add to your final cargo weight. Winners based on points assigned per pound of food donated.
BONUS POINTS – Riders in both categories will have opportunities to earn bonus points by completing secret tasks that will be included in their manifest, received upon registration and check-in on the day of the race.
